Today, I want to bring to light the actress, Cameron Diaz. Not only am I a fan of her movies, but I am a HUGE fan of her deep-rooted message of aging gracefully.
I think, as women, we don’t have a lot of good role models in this matter because so much of the media focuses on anti-wrinkle, anti-sag, anti-anything that has to do with-age. It’s unfortunate that there are such high standards on looking a certain way at any age, but let alone expecting older women to look younger and criticizing them when they show any sign of mature features.
That being said, I’m starting to see that the mentality of living a healthy, happy life and letting your inner beauty shine is on the rise. Out with the anit-age, and in with the nourish and replenish!
From time-to-time, I’ll be sharing with you positive role models that are sending the right messages, hoping that maybe it’ll resonate with you and encourage you to embrace yourself, love yourself, and live fully and happily.
Cameron Diaz just recently launched her second book, Longevity where she talks about aging in a positive way and what happens on a cellular level so that women can understand what it’s all about, get ahead of it, and embrace it.
I recommend reading an article, recently written on Well and Good, which discusses in more detail about Cameron’s book and her mission to change the way we age, and most importantly, the way we view age.
She also discusses on Good Morning America, her mantra of how “beauty comes from within” and the 5 pillars of well being:
- Eat well.
- Stay physically active.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Relieve stress.
- Have loving, meaningful relationships.
Did you enjoy this post? Who are some role models that you look to for positive messages?
