The large majority of our country’s pesticide use goes towards cotton crops. So much of what we use today is made up of cotton – most importantly feminine care products, such as tampons and pads. I’m no scientist, but I’m pretty sure I don’t want pesticides in that region, or any region for that matter, of my body. I’m going to venture out and say that most women don’t want that either.
Read Healthy Child Health World’s article if you want more details about how these toxic chemicals can permeate that delicate area of our bodies. Let’s support the companies that are making 100% organic cotton tampons and pads, such as the Honest Co., Seventh Generation, and Natracare.
If we use our dollars to purchase organic, then that will encourage other more commercially popular companies to step up and provide us with more organic options and competitive pricing.
