Lately, I’ve been starting my day off with early morning walks. Whether I only have time for a 10 minute walk or a 30 minute walk, I take it. The benefits have been amazing! Not only is it helpful to just get outside and get moving, but it helps clear my mind too.
If I’m walking with a friend or a loved one, we talk, we listen, we take deep breaths of fresh air, and we’re in the moment. This has helped me feel more energized for the day, clearer on my intentions and goals, and overall happier.
It especially helps when you have to go to work from 9-5 because it makes you feel like you have more of the day back to yourself, and less like you’re a slave to your job. It can be tough leaving work when it’s dark out, but knowing that you have had your morning to yourself outside and that you’ll have tomorrow morning too can be very uplifting.
Give it a shot. Go to bed a little bit earlier than you normally do, and wake up 20-30 minutes before you have to. Put your sneakers on and go. Drink a full glass of water, take a deep breath and enjoy the rest of your day. I’ve discussed before how it’s important to take time out of the day for you, this could be a way for you to do that.

While walking in the morning helps to start your day off right, I know that everyone’s schedule is different. At the very least schedule a walk at some point throughout the day that’s convenient for you. But otherwise give the morning walks a shot and let me know what you think.
