Every one knows that avocados are delicious and nutritious (try this delicious recipe), but have you ever thought about avocado oil and the amazing beauty benefits?
Avocado oil is great for the skin because it’s an emollient and a highly penetrating oil that contains Vitamin A and E, which naturally encourages collagen production and works together to improve skin tone and texture.
It’s a great addition to skin care recipes because it helps combat dry, dehydrated, or mature skin, without clogging pores. It’s also an excellent reliever for burns, inflammation, and itchy skin.
You can even include avocado oil in nourishing and moisturizing hair care recipes as it contains unsaturated fatty and essential fatty acids.
Use it as a makeup remover by massaging a small amount onto the facial skin and gently removing with a warm, wet cloth. Let it work wonders as an overall body massage oil; use it plain or add a few drops of mood-pleasing essential oils.
For the hair, give yourself a scalp massage every once in a while before washing, or simply add a little bit of oil to you shampoo and/or conditioner.
Most importantly, make sure you’re buying a high quality avocado oil to ensure that you’re receiving all of the beneficial properties.
What properties to look for when you’re purchasing avocado oil:
- Unrefined and cold-pressed
- Organic
- Dark green color
- Rich and fatty odor
Avocado oil can also be used in culinary recipes such as salad dressings and dips. It has a medium smoke point, so it shouldn’t be used as a cooking oil for high temperature recipes.
I hope you enjoyed this post! I plan on writing more educational pieces like this in the future, including DIY recipes.
Have you used avocado oil before? How do you like it? What do you use it for?
